Ear Ringing at It's Worst

My Experience with Ear Ringing

Ringing in the ears is something I began to experience off and on in my 30’s but it was always a brief encounter, nothing that was cause for alarm. It wasn’t until shortly after I turned 41, the ear ringing developed into a more serious problem. First, the ringing was 24-hours, non-stop in my right ear, which didn’t alarm me, but definitely annoyed me. The volume and pitch of the ringing would increase and decrease throughout the day, but never stop. Because I am not one to run to the doctor for every ailment unless it is broke or bleeding; I wasn’t ready to run to the doctor for this problem either.

The ear ringing continued for about four weeks until one morning I began to experience Vertigo and nausea, which I hadn’t had till now. Before I knew it, the Vertigo was so intense; I was crawling to the bathroom to throw up for the next three hours. This was the first and one of the worst of several episodes that took place before I finally went to the doctor. The ear ringing continued at an incredibly loud volume, off and on for eight months, and by the fourth month I’d begin to experience extreme jaw pain every time I would chew or yawn. Did I forget to mention the hearing loss? It was in the fifth month that I went to a local ENT who insisted I get a MRI stat. The findings in the MRI revealed that I had a sinus infection in the left Ethmoid sinus.

Great! I had the answer to my problem, but not so fast. The doctor I went to wasn’t willing to offer any help other than tell me to get a hearing aid and practice an exercise for Vertigo. REALLY!!! I believe this happened because I made him aware that I didn’t have insurance at which time I was quickly ushered out of the examination room without any further help or discussion about how to handle the sinus infection. This led me to my own quest for help through countless hours of internet searching and talking with other people who had some knowledge about sinus infections.

Now the story gets good (for me at least!) I was discussing my problem with a friend who told me about Sinufix nasal spray. She said that this product would go straight to the sinuses and knock out any infection. I took her word at face value and of course I was completely desperate to find anything that would resolve my issues. Sinufix comes in spray or capsules, however, I believe the quickest relief is from the nasal spray. I tried the spray immediately, using it up to two or three times a day. My first sign of relief came in about 4 or 5 days with consistent use. First, the ear-ringing disappeared, which basically meant to me, no ear ringing, no Vertigo. I was right! This was the hope I had kept looking for and finally found. However, I will say that the ear ringing still comes back occasionally, at a much lower volume. Anytime it increases, I go straight to the Sinufix and my problem is resolved.

I will admit that one time I ran out of the Sinufix and out of desperation I went to Wal-Mart looking for relief. I found a product on their shelf called Sinus Busters. Not being familiar with this product and needing quick relief, I sprayed it as soon as I opened it. I received the most horrible sensation a person could ever have! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking Sinus Busters, because it actually did give me relief from the ear ringing and sinus issues. However, I strongly caution anyone trying this product to dilute it half and half. You that have used it know what I’m talking about. However, if you find yourself needing relief right away and you can’t get the Sinufix quick enough, then in the meantime try the Sinus Busters. I truly believe in both of these products and highly recommend them for anyone experiencing the symptoms and sinus problems I’ve had.
